Perinatal Depression Policy Roundtable Summary Report, Recommendations Action Plan, March 2010

On November 19, 2009 the LA Best Babies Network and the LA County Perinatal Mental Health Task Force hosted the first Los Angeles County Perinatal Depression Policy Roundtable. The goal of the policy roundtable was to build sustainable policies to improve maternal mental health screening practices and treatment services in Los Angeles County.  The report concludes that lack of reimbursement for screening, limited to no health insurance coverage for uninsured women after 60 days postpartum, limited resources for co-located and embedded mental health services and insufficient knowledge among insurers and policy-makers of the cost-effectiveness of screening and early intervention resources were major barriers to establishing universal screenings.

LAMB Survey

2007 Surveillance Report: A Survey of the Health of Mothers and Babies in Los Angeles County

THE LAMB (Los Angeles Mommy and Baby) Project is a population-based surveillance tool that asks mothers who recently delivered a baby about events that happened before, during and after their pregnancy.  It's goal is to improve maternal health during pregnancy and to prevent babies from being born too early or too small.
